About
About Cambridge Hydrovac
A direct booking line for one vetted, insured hydrovac operator working across Cambridge and North Dumfries, for industry, contractors, utilities, the City and homeowners.
Cambridge Hydrovac is a booking line. It is not a hydrovac company and it does not pretend to be one. The site exists so that a plant facilities manager, a site servicing contractor, a fence installer or a homeowner in Cambridge who needs non-destructive digging gets to one vetted, insured hydrovac operator quickly, instead of calling around for a truck the week the pad is supposed to pour.
What that means practically: the work is done by a hydrovac operator who carries their own insurance and WSIB coverage, confirms the Ontario One Call locate and reviews the plant drawings or a private locate before digging, hauls the slurry to a receiving facility approved for what it is, quotes in writing from a site review or the drawings, and is accountable for the job. We do not sell your details on to a list of operators, and you are not entered into an auction.
The site is straight about the rules because getting them wrong is expensive. Locates are required by Ontario's Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act, and five business days is Ontario One Call's published standard. The City of Cambridge requires a Highway Occupancy Permit for all work in, over, under, across or along its right-of-way, including excavating and trenching. Slurry disposal is governed by the Region of Waterloo's Sewer Use By-law 21-036. A large share of Galt, Preston and Hespeler lots sit in a Grand River Conservation Authority regulated area where removing material can need a permit. Where a figure is the City's to confirm, such as the footing depth that applies to your lot, this site says so rather than inventing a number.
Some jobs are turned down. Digging without a completed locate, opening a plant yard without the drawings reviewed, dumping slurry into a yard catch basin or anywhere other than an approved facility, and bulk excavation on an open site where a machine is the honest answer are all better declined than started.
How this works
When you call 289-513-1410 or send the form, your details go straight to the hydrovac operator covering Cambridge, not to a list and not to a call centre. Calls go to voicemail if the crew is on a job, which most of the day they are, and the message and your number reach them immediately by text and email. Expect a call back the same day or the next working day. For industrial and contractor work the next step is usually a yard walk with the drawings and the locate; for a homeowner job it is a site review, because a hydrovac quote made without seeing the ground, the access and the services is a guess. The written quote follows, with the hours, the disposal class and loads, the windows, the permit and who holds the locate spelled out.
What we won't do
- Publish reviews we didn't earn. When we have them, they'll be real ones with names.
- Quote a firm price before someone has seen the job.
- Send anyone into your property who we would not have in our own.
