Hydrovac Excavation in Pinebush
Hydrovac across the Pinebush and Boxwood industrial lands and the logistics yards along Highway 401 and Franklin Boulevard.
The industrial and employment lands north of the 401 along Pinebush Road, Boxwood Drive and Franklin Boulevard are where Cambridge's largest sites are, and the hydrovac work scales with them. Distribution centres and manufacturing plants have long service runs between the street and the buildings, private feeders and fibre across the yards, oil-grit separators and dozens of catch basins across acres of pavement, and truck traffic that cannot be stopped for a trench. The usual work is daylighting at each crossing ahead of directional drilling for a new feed, slot trenching for yard lighting, gate controls, camera poles and fleet EV charging, perimeter fence and pole holes along property lines that carry gas and telecom, and catch basin and separator cleaning on a spring and fall schedule. Everything is planned around the yard: coned sections, plated slots at the end of each window, night and weekend work where the operation runs around the clock. Work in the right-of-way on the access roads needs the City of Cambridge Highway Occupancy Permit with three to ten business days' notice; Hespeler Road and other Regional roads are permitted through the Region; the 401 itself is provincial.

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge extra for Ayr or the townships?
No separate travel line. Work outside the city is quoted on the same hourly basis, and travel is part of the day. Rural jobs are often cheaper per hole because the truck parks beside the line and the hose run is short.
Which permit applies outside Cambridge?
The City of Cambridge Highway Occupancy Permit covers City roads and boulevards inside Cambridge. In North Dumfries Township, including Ayr, the township issues its own road permits, and Regional roads anywhere in the region go through the Region of Waterloo. The Ontario One Call locate requirement is the same across Ontario.
How do I know if my property is in a GRCA regulated area?
Enter the address in the Grand River Conservation Authority's Map Your Property tool and look for the Regulation Limit layer. Much of Galt, Preston and Blair along the Grand and Speed rivers is inside it. If the property is regulated, removing material from the site can need a GRCA permit, and that is sorted out before the dig is scheduled.
